Perhaps buoyed by the retail success their first super hero set brought (I actually don’t have sales figures, but I’m willing to bet that it did), Decool figured to keep a good thing going, and we’re all better-off for it.
In this set, Decool opted to stick to a mix of Marvel and DC characters, lumping them all together under the Super Heroes branding.
Again, pricing remains the same, with Decool commanding an extra 5-peso premium over the usual 25-peso/minifig pricing just because Decool has already garnered a good rep among buyers as the brand to beat when it comes to all things bootleg Lego. So that’s 30 pesos per minifig for this set.
Included in the set are the following:
- Deadpool
- Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) – the costume appears to be from the maligned 2011 movie
- Wolverine (Astonishing costume)
- Batman (Dark Knight Rises costume)
- Loki – !!! (personal fave of mine)
- Robin
It’s a solid cast, and it has extra appeal to me personally, since I like Deadpool and Loki. Getting a decent Green Lantern minifig also boosts this set – the Lele version leaves a lot to be desired. It’s definitely a no-brainer for completionists, as the minifigs here are unique so far amongst all the minifigs covered as of yet in this blog space, save for the Dark Knight Rises Batman that SY already covered in their Batman-centric set.
Each minifig comes with a basic display plate, instruction leaflet-slash-minifig teaser, and cards. Standard inclusions for Decool.
As for minifig quality, well, there’s little you can ding Decool for. Again, as with any bootleg maker, there’s the chance that some minifigs would have less-than-ideal paint jobs, but that comes with the (price) territory. Otherwise, Decool’s moulds are excellent, and you won’t have problems using these with real Lego pieces (apologies for purists out there). Another reason why Decool is tops is because they sometimes paint on two facial expressions, like how Lego does.
What’s more, Decool is also more circumspect when it comes to handing out accessories to their minifigs. That means that you can mostly assume that so-and-so minifig would have an accessory piece that actually fits their character. Decool doesn’t do the throw-random-guns-at-minifigs-and-be-done-with-it that SY does, or the totally out from left field weapons that Lele provides their own minifigs.
If you can live with less-than-ideal paint jobs (and you probably could, since you’re reading a blog dedicated to things low-end!), this set is a must-buy, especially if you’re a collector (of bootlegs).
On to the minifigs!
